Subject: Your alleged endorsement of the Italian Five Star Movement
Dear prof. Stiglitz,
I understand that you probably are extremely busy and I apologise if I’m wasting too much of your time, but this matter is, in my opinion, extremely important.
As you probably already know, the Italian general elections will take place this weekend. I’m writing you as mr. Beppe Grillo keeps arguing that you have been in charge of writing the economic policies of the movement he leads (he also stated it today during an interview aired by Class CNBC). The reason I’m writing is that, as I am familiar with your work, I find quite hard to believe that you suggest that Italy should withdraw from the Euro and from the European Union or any of other the weird policies upheld by the Five Star Movement.
If you were so kind as to release a press statement or to contact with any Italian media outlet in order to clarify the matter it would be much appreciated. I’m asking you to do that as I strongly believe that the very future of democracy in Italy is at stake at the moment!
Again, I apologise for bothering you.
Best regards,
Jaume Loffredo

Thanks. A lot of people attribute a lot of things to my husband but his writings speak for themselves and are available online as are his numerous talks. I doubt he if he has even mentioned the “Five Star movement” anywhere. Thanks, Anya
