Polemica in Australia per una dichiarazione del
sindaco di Port Augusta, gia' protagonista
in passato di dichiarazioni "colorite" circa
immigrati e societa' multirazziale.
-----------------------------------------
The latest comments from maverick Port Lincoln mayor Peter Davis have some
people questioning his suitability to hold public office.
The controversial mayor has suggested some illegal immigrants be used as live target
practice by soldiers next to the new detention centre at El Alamein, near Port
Augusta.
Dale West, the director of Adelaide's Catholic welfare agency, CentreCare, says this
time the Port Lincoln mayor has gone too far.
"The concern for me is that Mr Davis is probably serious...we've seen this type of
comment from him before," he said.
"We've seen the Federal Government over time work hard at depersonalising the
needs of human beings at Woomera for example and this just takes it to a whole new
low."
