"Emirates Soaring Profits 'Almost Surreal'

While the aviation industry worldwide struggles with huge financial problems Middle East carrier Emirates has been flying high.

Emirates Group, parent to the Dubai-based airline, has declared a massive 74 percent increase in net profits to Dhs1.05 billion (USD$285.7 million) in its last fiscal year.

The airline operations alone achieved a 94 percent increase in profit, from Dhs468.2 million (USD$127.6m) to Dhs906.7 million. Average passenger seat factor rose to 76.6 percent, breaking all previous records, and cargo represented 19.6 percent of the airline's revenue.

Total Group revenue increased by 31 percent to Dhs10.2 billion (USD$2.8 billion) in the year ending 31st March 2003.

Emirates' Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said that success did not come by chance and he praised the liaison between the company and the Dubai government which he described as "visionary" in its plans for the future.

"At the airport, the government is making a crucial, multi-million dollar investment in a new, revolutionary expansion of the already futuristic complex which will increase the capacity to 60 million passengers a year by 2012 - and in a mega cargo center capable of handling one million tonnes of freight, providing Emirates with an exclusive terminal from 2007," he said.

"We are, indeed, fortunate to be in a part of the world where the economy is booming. When we compare our results with those of the world aviation industry in general they seem almost surreal," Sheik Ahmed added.""


Beh, ke dire, una flotta di 332 e di 772, servizi all'avanguardia, prezzo onesto, beh, ci fanno digerire pure i loro orari dei voli...

Mah, nn x rompere, spero ke sia tutto limpidissimo, però qs conti sono un po' troppo "belli".

Eh già...in iraq un litro di benzina costa qualcosa come 20 lire. Nel resto dell'arabia la situazione non deve essere molto diversa, e i rapporti dovrebbero equivalersi anche per la benzina avio. Fai due conti...
