Paris Theater Director Attacked

PARIS - Two men attacked the director of a Paris theater Sunday, punching him and slashing his face, apparently because of a play he is staging that criticizes President Bush (news - web sites), the theater said.

Attilio Maggiulli, director of the Theater of Italian Comedy, was attacked in the building's entrance on Sunday, said Claudine Simon, his assistant. One man held him down, while another cut his face. They also splashed paint on the theater's walls, she said.

It was unclear exactly what motivated the beating, said Simon, who said she found her employer bleeding in the entryway. But she said it may have been over the play the theater has been showing since Wednesday, titled "George W. Bush, or God's Sad Cowboy."

Simon suggested the assailants might have been offended by a poster showing a skull in a cowboy hat to represent Bush, or by a photo of an Afghan man that the theater showed as part of its publicity display.

"They said things like, "Oh, you're defending the Arabs," Simon said. They also insulted President Jacques Chirac, one of the main opponents of the U.S.-led war in Iraq. The play is critical of Bush but doesn't directly touch on the Arab world, Simon said.

The assailants fled, and Maggiulli was treated at a Paris hospital, Simon said.

The theater director wants to shut down the play to protect the actors, but a final decision has not yet been made, Simon said. Maggiulli founded the theater in the Montparnasse neighborhood to stage works by Italian playwrights performed in French.

Now, let's be clear: We don't approve of attacking anyone, including anti-American directors of French theaters. All the same, this is a good opportunity for Maggiulli to ponder what he might have done to provoke his attackers' rage. He should ask himself: Why do they hate me? While their methods are inexcusable, he might find they have some legitimate grievances.

Incredibile! Nessuno ha detto niente, nè ai telegiornali nè sulla carta stampata.
Mi sa tanto di una squadraccia del Betar ... (per chi non lo sapesse, sono i picchiatori ebraici, alquanto attivi in terra francese). Damiano ci può chiarire le idee in proposito, visto che vive là.

Sulle news di Yahoo fr ci sono solo due "agenzie", di domenica, e di ieri.
Una dice che per l'incolunnita degli attori, hanno deciso smettere le rappresentazioni di "George W. Bush ou le triste cowboy de Dieu".

L'altra che la polizia sta cercando "due individui di tipo europeo".
Noto come l'assistente faccia di tutto per mischiare le piste : si sorprende dell'aggressione perche erano a favore degli arabi. E risaputo, i terroristi e gli intolleranti sono soltanto arabi. Suppone che magari l'aggresione puo' essere legata alla locandina (sott'intendere : non è andata giu' ad un integralista arabo ?)
Non a caso, si chiama Simon, cognome molto frequente tra gli ebrei francesi. Sara' per lei, che lavora nel teatro progressista, un impossibilità mentale immaginarsi la versione piu logica ?

Se l'attenzione mediatica resta cosi professionalmente ormertica su un caso simile, vuol dire che l'inchiesta farà la fine di quella sulle pugnalate al commissario di polizia ad opera di attivisti del Betar (durante le manifestazioni parigine per la pace in israele dell'anno scorso) o di quella sull'aggressione del rabbino "filopalestinese"di qualche mese fa' (idem qui : ema perche lo hanno aggredito, se era dalla loro parte ?" perche ad aggredirlo potevano essere solo musulmani... nonostante il fatto che il detto rabbino avesse stipulato piu volte che i suoi aggressori palarvano un francese senza accento algerino)... molto casino sul momento... eppoi piu niente.

Eh già, sembra proprio "I vestiti nuovi dell'imperatore" ... Non mi riferisco soltanto a questo caso, ma a tutti i casi in cui sono coinvolti gli ebrei come colpevoli o come millantatori. Indagini stranamente infruttuose da parte della polizia, mass-media muti o svianti, e opinione pubblica che ovviamente non si sognerebbe mai di accusarli - visti i decenni di lavaggio di cervello vittimistico e olocaustico.
