LONDON - A British soldier has been killed in Iraq, the Ministry of Defense said on Friday.
A spokeswoman said the soldier, from the 12th regiment of the Royal Artillery, was injured in an attack in al Qurna in the south of the country on Tuesday and died of his injuries on Thursday.

U.S. marine killed in western Iraq
U.S. marine died of wounds sustained due to hostile action in the volatile Anbar province, the U.S. military said on Friday.
A marine died of wounds that sustained due to "enemy action" when he was on duty in the Anbar province on Sept. 6, the military said in a brief statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
More than 2,650 U.S. military servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the outbreak of the U.S.-led war on the oil-rich Arab country in March 2003, according to media count.

One US soldier killed southern of Baghdad
BAGHDAD, Sept 8 — One US soldier was killed on Friday in a blast in southern Baghdad, the US army reported.
An army statement said that the soldier, who was a member of the multinational forces, was killed by a bomb planted on the side of the road.
The name of the soldier has not yet been revealed until his family is informed.
A Marines soldier was killed today in Al-Anbar in addition to two other soldier who were killed in two separate incidents in Huwaija and Ramadi.
