E pensare che Heathrow e' probabilmente l'aeroporto piu' a rischio al mondo....

BAA and MET police back new ID cards for aviation enthusiasts
    13 April 2004

BAA Heathrow and the Metropolitan Police are lending their support to a new security scheme for aviation enthusiasts which aims to help "spotters" enjoy their hobby whilst bolstering security at the world's busiest international airport.
LAAS International, which publishes a series of magazines for enthusiasts, has introduced a new identity card and code of conduct for plane spotters, to allow police officers and airport security staff to quickly spot genuine enthusiasts at the airport. It also aims to encourage spotters to report any suspicious behaviour to the police to help them in their fight against crime.
The code of conduct, which enthusiasts agree to when signing up for the card, calls on them to report any damage to security fences or any unusual activity around the airport which could be linked to crime or terrorism. They have also committed to clearing up any litter and keeping away from security fences, thereby reducing the problems sometimes caused by less responsible spotters.
Chief Supt Jerry Savill, borough commander for Heathrow, said: "We want to encourage everyone, but particularly those who know the workings of the airport and can therefore spot something out of the ordinary, to contact police if they believe something they see or hear is suspicious.
"Aviation enthusiasts are watching the activities of the airport everyday and their legitimate interest can only be to our advantage. They may see someone they don't recognise as part of their community whose interest in the airport is not genuine."
Steve Dickens, Airport Security Manager for BAA Heathrow added: "BAA works very closely with the police, airlines and other airport organisations to help make the airport as secure as possible. Groups like aviation enthusiasts can contribute to these efforts by reporting any suspicious behaviour. We also want to ensure that genuine enthusiasts are still able to enjoy their hobby despite extra security measures which are introduced from time to time."

Aviation enthusiasts, staff, passengers and visitors who spot any suspicious behaviour at the airport should contact the police immediately either by speaking to a local officer or by calling the confidential Anti Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789321.

    NOTES TO EDITORS:
Aviation Enthusiasts, together with drivers, airport staff and airline staff were called upon to report any suspicion to police in a series of posters and flyers launched in November and which continue to be distributed through the airport community.

Heathrow Police has also appointed dedicated officers to act as liaison points for different sections from the Heathrow community. Aviation Enthusiasts, Drivers, Catering Staff, Contractors, Engineering Workers and each of the airports four Terminals have their own liaison officer who they can share any concerns with and seek assistance from.

Ve ne vengono in mente ??
