easyJet introduces two NEW routes from Nottingham East Midlands Airport - Rome and Cologne
easyJet will begin operating two new routes from Nottingham East Midlands Airport to Cologne and Rome this summer. The daily services will commence on 9 June 2004, with one-way fares from GBP 17.99 and GBP 22.99 respectively (including taxes and charges). Seats go on sale today at easyJet.com.
easyJet is able to offer these two new destinations as a direct result of the discontinuance of the services to Glasgow and Barcelona. The decision regarding Glasgow was based on maximising shareholder value. easyJet has constantly campaigned to reduce the high landing charges at the BAA owned airports to make services from Scotland more financially viable. As one of the shortest flights from the Scottish city, the landing charges have a higher impact on the low fares we charge. The Barcelona service will be discontinued due to slot availability issues.
easyJet is committed to Nottingham East Midlands Airport, and has replaced these services with brand new routes currently not offered by any other scheduled airline in the region. Now travellers have the opportunity to explore Italy's stunning Capital city, or easily access Southern Tuscany, or Umbria. They can also visit the Gothic Cathedral city of Cologne, renowned for its ancient Roman relics, and built in the spectacular valley of the Rhine river.
