A Boeing 777 passenger jet had to make an emergency landing in Melbourne this morning when mechanical trouble was detected shortly after it took off.
The Singapore Airlines plane made a safe landing shortly about 1.45am.
Eleven fire trucks rushed to the airport after the pilot reported engine problems soon after the plane took off about 12.50am.
An ambulance spokesman said there had been no reports of injuries.
Singapore Airlines could not be contacted and further details were unavailable.
