KLM plane makes emergency landing in Japan
A KLM Royal Dutch Airlines plane carrying 284 passengers and crew made an emergency landing at a northern Japanese airport on Saturday due to engine trouble but no one was injured, officials said.
The Boeing 747-400 was heading to Tokyo’s Narita airport from Amsterdam when it reported one of its four engines had stopped, said an official at New Chitose airport in Hokkaido, some 800 kilometers (500 miles) north of Tokyo.
“No one was injured and passengers already left for Tokyo on a substitute flight,” the official said, adding that KLM officials would investigate the incident.
