Post B737 dell´AirAsia è uscito di pista a Kota Kinabalu: 3 passeggeri feriti (inglese)

AirAsia flight skids off runway in Kota Kinabalu, two injured

AirAsia Flight AK106 from Kuala Lumpur skidded off the runway at about 5.10pm during bad weather. Two passengers were injured when the Boeing 737 with about 100 passengers skidded.

A three year-old boy suffered a broken arm while another, who is still unidentified, had minor injuries. The remaining passengers and crew escaped unhurt.

Medical teams at the airport screened them before they were allowed to leave the airport.

One of the passengers, who identified herself as Zilla, said she felt the plane hitting a puddle of water when landing before swerving from the runway to the grass.

She said the aircrew members than advised the 100-odd passengers to exit through the emergency chutes.

"There was panic but no pandemonium," she said when met at the airport.

Plane skids off runway, three hurt

Three passengers — a five-year-old girl and two women — were injured while evacuating from the plane and received outpatient treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Department of Civil Aviation director-general Datuk Kok Soo Choon confirmed the incident took place during a downpour. The incident about 4.40pm involving AirAsia's Boeing 737 from Kuala Lumpur, resulted in the runway being temporarily closed. It occurred less than half-an-hour after an executive jet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on board touched down at the airport.

There were 116 people on board flight AK104, including five crew members.

Raymond Dunker, father of the injured girl, said she hurt her left wrist after falling off the emergency chute.

Another passenger Siti Rasmah Sakilan said she felt the aircraft skidding before coming to an abrupt stop.

"An air hostess told everybody to get out fast and I sprained my ankle in the rush," said Siti Rasmah.
