Mafia killings are common place in Naples, Italy, home to the notorious Camorra crime syndicate

The Italian city is famed throughout the world for its links to organised crime.

Mafia hits in Naples are more frequent than elsewhere in the home of Italy’s oldest crime syndicate, The Camorra.

Camorra differs from the other famous mafia clans, the Cosa Nostra in Sicily and the ‘Ndrangheta of Calabria by not being one hierarchical organisation.

The Naples based group is more of a collection of loosely connected gangs known as O’sistema, “The System” to insiders.

Rivals within The System frequently clash over the running of the narcotics trade in the city where the Camorra make most of their cash.

A recent spate of violence in the town has been laid at the hands of some of the “baby gangs” of the clan, made up of crews of kids as young as 12.

The roles of these gangs is to keep hold of divisions of territory “owned” by older bosses.

Tragically these gangs have a large pool of youngsters to drag into a life of crime owing to large scale youth unemployment.

Misguided youths see the Camorra as a path to riches, but that path is regularly strewn with bodies and incarceration.

The city has such a bad reputation in Italy that the Italian phrase for “go to hell” is “va’ fa Napoli” literally meaning, “go to Naples.

Quando sono tornato a Napoli dopo averci vissuto per anni @Florian , mi è sembrata la città più tranquilla del mondo .
Ma so per certo di aver avuto la protezione di @Bamba de Kraut e @don Peppe per questo gli scippatori mi stavano lontani .
