Cathay Pacific to add fourth daily London service

HONG KONG, June 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Cathay Pacific Airways announcedon Monday that the addition of a fourth daily non-stop service to London with a new morning departure from Hong Kong would offer passengers the choice of flights throughout the day.

The new service, operated by a three-class Airbus 340-300, willstart Dec. 1, 2005, departing Hong Kong at 09:05 local time to arrive at 1450 local time

The fourth service comes as Cathay Pacific this year celebrates25 years of operating to London. And it illustrates Cathay Pacific's ongoing initiative to strengthen Hong Kong as a global aviationhub by operating multiple daily long-haul flights to major cities,including New York, twice daily, Sydney, three times daily, and Los Angeles, which will go three times daily in July.

The airline's maiden flight to London departed Hong Kong on 16 July 1980, and operated three times a week via Bahrain. The service went daily in 1981, and on 2 July 1983 Cathay Pacific madeaviation history with the world's first non-stop service from HongKong to the UK capital.

Seven years later in June 1990 the airline doubled its frequency to twice daily and went three times daily in August 2003.Since that first flight, Cathay Pacific's fleet has increased morethan four fold, from 21 aircraft in 1985 to 94 aircraft today.

London in September last year opened its new First and BusinessClass lounge at Heathrow's Terminal 3, modeled on the award-winning Hong Kong lounges The Wing and The Pier. In July last yearthe airline opened a London Cabin Crew base. Now 119 cabin crew are based in the United Kingdom.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Philip Chen said: "Cathay Pacific has grown tremendously since we commenced services to London a quarter century ago. London was our first European destination and remains a key market for Hong Kong's continued growth as an aviation hub and business center."

He added that "our fourth daily flight between Hong Kong and London, two world-class cities, underscores our commitment to support Hong Kong's future growth, even as the airline faces the challenge of higher fuel prices." Enditem

BA ha 3 voli/giorno per HKG con 744 ma non mi sembrano in c/s con CX , nonostante l'alleanza.

Sulla LHR-HKG , oltre BA e CX , volano anche QF (4xw con 744) e Virgin (giornaliero con 346).

Direi una rotta da niente
