National carrier given chance to fly with Hungary
From Poland A.M.
LOT Polish Airlines has received an invitation from Aviation Solution International (ASI) to join a consortium that is currently in negotiations to take over the Hungarian national carrier Malev.
According to Hungarian media, ASI, which was established by a former Malev president, Ferentz Kovats, is one of three bidders in the battle to acquire 99.95% of shares in the airline. The other potential investors are Russia's KrasAir, which has offered the highest bid and English fund, Argus Capital. Despite the fact that the Polish company is seriously considering the invitation and is currently in talks over the deal, market analysts are rather skeptical about the idea of acquiring a company which has debts exceeding EUR 150 million. The potential benefits of being a part of the consortium would be taking over a well developed network of connections with Asia, as well as lowering marketing costs, and division of flights.
