Ahmadinejad: Israel 'will be removed'

Tehran (dpa) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that the Palestinians and "other nations" will eventually remove Israel from the region.

Addressing a mass demonstration in Tehran - one of many organized throughout Iran to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the Islamic revolution - he once again questioned the Holocaust "fairy tale".

"We ask the West to remove what they created sixty years ago and if they do not listen to our recommendations, then the Palestinian nation and other nations will eventually do this for them," Ahmadinejad said in a ceremony marking the 27th anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

"Do the removal of Israel before it is too late and save yourself from the fury of regional nations," the ultra-conservative president said. He once again called the Holocaust a "fairy tale" and said Europeans have become hostages of "Zionists" in Israel.

He also accused Europeans for not allowing "neutral scholars" to investigate in Europe and make a scientific report on "the truth about the fairy tale of Holocaust."

"How comes that insulting the prophet of Muslims worldwide is justified within the framework of press freedom, but investigating about the fairy tale Holocaust is not?" Ahmadinejad said.

"The real Holocaust is what is happening in Palestine where the Zionists avail themselves of the fairy tale of Holocaust as blackmail and justification for killing children and women and making innocent people homeless," Ahmadinejad said.

The president said that the results of the parliamentary elections in Palestine and the victory of the Hamas group "clearly showed what the people really want."

"You (the West) want democracy but do not respect the outcome," Ahmadinejad said, referring to the election results in Iraq and Palestine.

"It seems that you (the West) only want that form of democracy whose results just repeat your standpoints and only follow your policies," he said.

Ahmadinejad once again called on the West to adopt the "simple option" and allow Palestinians to voice their political will through a referendum.

Mass demonstrations organized by the state were held throughout Iran on Saturday as the nation commemorated the 27th anniversary of the revolution that established the Islamic Republic in Iran.

According to state media, hundreds of thousands of people came into the streets to show their solidarity with the government over pursuing the country's nuclear programmes and voice their protest against publication of cartoons deemed insulting to the Prophet Mohammed.

While chanting "Death to America", "Death of Israel" and "Nuclear energy is our undisputable right", the crowd walked toward the Azadi (Freedom) Square in Tehran where Ahmadinejad held his annual speech.

In his speech the Iranian president warned that in case of harsh measures against Tehran over its controversial nuclear programme, the country would revise its commitment toward the Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

"The policy of Iran has so far been pursuing nuclear technology within the framework of the NPT and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)," he said.

"But if you (the West) continue efforts to deprive the Iranian nation from this (nuclear) right, then we would reconsider this policy," he warned.

Ahmadinejad asked the crowd in the Azadi square to tell the world its message and show its willingness to continue the nuclear programmes despite Western pressure.

"The era of military force is over, today is the era of nations, logic and worshippers of God," the president said.

He also referred to remarks by United States President George W. Bush who had said that the Iranian people were different from the Islamic government in Tehran, saying there was no distinction.

"Look, this is the third generation standing here and they are even more religious, more informed, more enthusiastic and more resistant (than the first generation) to defend the ideals of the revolution," Ahmadinejad said.

The president also referred to the cartoons and called it a "Zionist plot" against not only Muslims but also those genuinely committed to Christianity and Judaism.

"Those who insulted the prophet should know that you cannot obscure the sun with a handful of dust. The dust will just get back and blind your own eyes," he said.

The crowd replied to his remarks with "Death to Denmark" slogans.

ALCUNI FATTI SU ISRAELE

Questo documento non è stato redatto per dimostrare che gli ebrei siano migliori (o peggiori) degli altri, ma semplicemente al fine di chiarire alcune informazioni distorte sulla loro storia e sul loro presente, e perché le opinioni possano essere basate su fatti e non su supposizioni.

Ricordiamo che oggi, Israele ha una superficie di circa 22.000 km², equivalente alla metà della Svizzera, e una popolazione di 6 milioni d'abitanti, dei quali 1 milione sono arabi.


La nazione ebraica e Gerusalemme

1. Dal 1312 a.C., al tempo dell'esodo dall'Egitto, Israele ha conseguito l'indipendenza nazionale - duemila anni prima dell'ascesa dell'Islam.

2. Gli arabi nei territori palestinesi hanno iniziato a dichiararsi "popolo palestinese" soltanto dal 1967, due decenni dopo la fondazione del moderno stato d'Israele.

3. Dalla conquista di Canaan (nel 1272 a.C.) gli ebrei hanno governato mille anni sul Paese. La loro presenza in Terra Santa negli ultimi 3300 anni è stata continua.

4. A partire dalla conquista islamica nel 638 d.C. ci fu un periodo di dominio arabo fino al 1072.

5. Da più di 3000 anni Gerusalemme è la capitale ebraica. Gerusalemme non è mai stata capitale di un'altra nazione araba o islamica. Perfino quando la Giordania occupò dal 1948 al 1967 la parte orientale della città, non ne fece mai una capitale. Nemmeno i palestinesi la chiesero come tale.

6. Nella Bibbia troviamo Gerusalemme menzionata più di 800 volte. Nel Corano non è menzionata neppure una volta.

7. Re Davide conquistò Gerusalemme nel 1004 a.C. e ne fece la capitale d'Israele. Maometto non venne mai a Gerusalemme, seppure la leggenda dica che Maometto sia asceso al cielo dalla Città Santa.

8. Gli ebrei pregano rivolti a Gerusalemme, i musulmani pregano rivolti alla Mecca.


Rifugiati arabi e rifugiati ebrei

9. In seguito al piano di partizione delle Nazioni Unite, nel 1948 venne proclamato la nascita dello stato d'Israele. Le nazioni arabe incoraggiarono gli arabi in Israele a lasciare "temporaneamente" il Paese affinché potessero liberarlo dalla presenza ebraica. Il 68% partì senza aver visto nemmeno un soldato ebraico.

10. Contemporaneamente gli ebrei che vivevano nelle nazioni arabe venivano costretti a fuggire dalla violenza e dalla persecuzione araba.

11. Il numero di rifugiati arabi che lasciò Israele nel 1948 è stimato a 630.000. Il numero di rifugiati ebrei che lasciò i paesi arabi è stimato a 820.000.

12. I rifugiati arabi non sono stati integrati intenzionalmente nelle nazioni in cui si sono andati, nonostante le dimensioni gigantesche dei paesi arabi. Dei 100 milioni di rifugiati della seconda guerra mondiale, quello dei palestinesi è l'unico gruppo non integrato. I rifugiati ebrei, invece, sono stati completamente integrati (mentre nuovi immigranti continuano ad arrivare da tutto il mondo) in una nazione che è grande come la metà della Svizzera.


Il conflitto arabo-israeliano

13. Gli arabi occupano 21 nazioni, mentre esiste solo una nazione ebraica. Gli stati arabi hanno condotto cinque guerre contro Israele, e ogni volta sono stati sconfitti.

14. Ancora oggi lo statuto dell'OLP esige la distruzione dello stato d'Israele.

15. I palestinesi hanno ricevuto da Israele la maggior parte di Gaza e della Cisgiordania (nel 2000 il 98% di tutti i palestinesi viveva sotto la sovranità dell'autorità di Autonomia Palestinese, anche alcuni avrebbero preferito non esserlo).

16. Prima del 1967, sotto il dominio giordano, i luoghi sacri ebraici venivano sistematicamente profanati e agli ebrei era negato l'accesso ai luoghi di preghiera, perfino al Muro del Pianto e al Monte del Tempio. Dal 1967, sotto il dominio israeliano, tutti i santuari musulmani e cristiani sono stati conservati e resi accessibili a uomini e donne di ogni fede.


Prese di posizione dell'ONU nei confronti d'Israele

17. Delle 175 risoluzioni che il Consiglio di Sicurezza ha emanato fino al 1990, 97 erano rivolte contro Israele (il 55%).

18. Delle 690 risoluzioni che l'Assemblea Generale dell'ONU ha votato fino al 1990, 429 erano rivolte contro Israele (il 62%).

19. L'ONU tacque quando nel 1948 a Gerusalemme Est i giordani distrussero 58 sinagoghe e vennero profanate sistematicamente 38'000 tombe ebraiche nell'antico cimitero del Monte degli Ulivi.

20. L'ONU tacque quando la Giordania praticò una politica di apartheid, impedendo agli ebrei l'accesso ai luoghi più sacri dell'ebraismo (il Monte del Tempio e il Muro del Pianto).

Che cosa dice la Bibbia?

21. Il Signore avrà pietà di Giacobbe, sceglierà ancora Israele, e li ristabilirà ancora nel loro paese. E gli stranieri si uniranno a loro, si uniranno alla casa di Giacobbe. (Isaia 14:1)

22. Dio non ha ripudiato il suo popolo. (Romani 11:2)

23. «Benedirò quelli che ti benediranno e maledirò chi ti maledirà. E in te saranno benedette tutte le famiglie della terra.» (Genesi 12)

24. «Io farò di Gerusalemme una coppa di stordimento per tutti i popoli circostanti … cingeranno d'assedio Gerusalemme. In quel giorno avverrà che io farò di Gerusalemme una pietra pesante per tutti i popoli. Tutti quelli che se la caricheranno addosso ne saranno malamente feriti, anche tutte le nazioni della terra si raduneranno contro di lei. In quel giorno avverrà che io avrò cura di distruggere tutte le nazioni che verranno contro Gerusalemme.» (Zaccaria 12:2-3,9)
