Welcome to the European version of "OMG Christianity is under attack!":
The Vatican is worried its opposition to abortion, embryonic stem cell research and gay marriage could one day land it before an international court of justice.
There is a conspiracy. Governments in totalitarian states like France, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Switzerland are working together to destroy families and moral values.
"We worry especially that, with current laws, speaking in defense of life and the rights of families is becoming in some societies sort of a crime against the state," Lopez Trujillo told the Catholic news magazine Famiglia Cristiana for its issue scheduled to hit the stands Thursday."
No, no, you are not committing a crime by defending life and the rights of families, caro cardinale. But if you preach intolerance in a country where preaching intolerance is verboten, then you commit a crime. If you believe you are right, go ahead and carry the consequences.
Btw. you will also have to go to court if some of your priests should kill someone during an exorcism. Or if you'd, I don't know, burn a witch. Or molest children. Governments can be pesky that way.
If the Catholic church doesn't want to give its blessing to gay marriage: fine. No problem with that. If you are gay and a member of that church, you can either dedicate your time to changing their minds or decide that God can be found everywhere, and that you don't need an organisation to find him/her/it for you.
But what sort of laws the government sets regarding registered partnerships (which we also call marriages, btw.), is none of the church's bloody business.
This aside: hey, imagine how many happy families you could create if you allowed your priests to marry and fill the earth with the fruits of their loins! Now THAT would deal the heathens a blow! The Fundamentalist Church of the Saints of the Latter Days in Utah showed how its done! Imagine how many soldiers for your war you could get, counting 18 kids per priest! Seriously, the pope should consider this.
In the interview, Lopez Trujillo reiterated that according to church rules, women who have abortions, the doctors and nurses who help them and the father, if he is going along with it, are excommunicated.
I have news for you: the only one to decide who is a Christian is - God. And with all due respect, do you think you are more important than god?
Cut that. We already know the answer.
