BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Ameco Beijing, a joint venture between Air China and Lufthansa, said its new 700 mln yuan hangar at Beijing Capital International Airport, capable of housing Airbus A380 superjumbos, will be completed in March 2008 and put into use before the Olympics in August of that year.
The hangar will be the biggest aircraft line maintenance facility in Asia.
It will have six wide body and four narrow body aircraft maintenance positions, Ameco Beijing said in a statement.
The joint venture added that it will construct a second hangar of the same size in the next few years.
It did not provide a detailed timetable.
The construction of a second hangar has already been approved by shareholders, Ameco Beijing said.
Air China holds a 60 pct stake in the aircraft maintenance venture and Lufthansa holds the remaining 40 pct.[/i]
