JAL Further Expands China Network Through Code Share Agreements

Tokyo, Friday October 13, 2006: Japan Airlines (JAL) will further strengthen its Japan-China network, the largest network between the two countries, by expanding its bilateral code share agreements with China Eastern Airlines (MU), and Xiamen Airlines (MF).

From October 29, 2006, JAL starts code sharing on China Eastern Airlines' daily non-stop service between Fukuoka and Shanghai. The agreement doubles the number of flights per week available to JAL passengers traveling between Fukuoka - Shanghai, as JAL currently operates its own daily service between the two cities.

The two airlines have also agreed to extend their bilateral agreement on December 12, 2006 to the thrice-weekly non-stop service operated by China Eastern Airlines, between Osaka (Kansai) and Kunming. This direct route serves as a convenient alternative to the indirect daily service via Beijing that JAL currently offers between the two cities.

Xiamen Airlines has also agreed to JAL placing its `JL' designator from December 08, 2006 on the Chinese airline's twice-weekly Osaka (Kansai) - Hangzhou service. The code share flight departs Mondays and Fridays increasing the options available to passengers currently using JAL's own flight departing Osaka for Hangzhou on Thursdays and Sunday.

When the new code shares come into effect, JAL's international Japan-China network will cover 30 routes and 264 flights per week serving 13 cities in China.

At present, JAL, including code shares, serves 12 cities in China on 29 routes with a total of 240 flights per week. Flight frequency increases announced earlier this year by JAL will increase this to 252 flights per week by the end of October.

Presently JAL codes shares on Xiamen Airlines' Osaka (Kansai) - Xiamen route, and on 9 routes operated by China Eastern Airlines serving 5 cities in China.

JAL is actively expanding its network between Japan and China to meet expected continued growth in traffic between the two countries.

JAL Increases Flight Frequency on Tokyo – Shanghai Route

Tokyo, October 18, 2006: From October 29, 2006 JAL will increase international passenger, and cargo flight frequency between Tokyo and Shanghai, further strengthening its network between China and Japan.

JAL will introduce a fourth daily non-stop passenger service between Tokyo and Shanghai, increasing flight frequency between the two cities from 21 to 28 flights per week. With the addition of the new daily service, JAL will offer 101 round-trip flights per week between Japan and Shanghai.

Including China Eastern Airlines code shares, JAL currently provides direct flights between Shanghai and six cities in Japan: Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai), Fukuoka, Nagoya (Chubu), Komatsu and Sapporo. JAL also offers same day connection code share services onward from Shanghai to the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Chongqing and Shenzen (operated by China Eastern Airlines).

Announced earlier this year, JAL will also increase from October 29, 2006 flight frequency on the international passenger services it operates between Tokyo - Xiamen, Tokyo - Guangzhou, and Nagoya (Chubu) - Guangzhou, as well as on the cargo service it operates between Tokyo - Guangzhou.

By the end of calendar year 2006, JAL's international passenger network between Japan and China - the largest network between the two countries - will serve 13 Chinese cities on 30 routes with a total of 271 flights per week (on round trip basis including code shares).

On October 29, 2006 JAL will also introduce an additional international cargo flight between Narita and Shanghai departing Japan on Sundays using a B747-400F. This will increase the number of freighter flights operated on the route from 5 to 6 per week.

As a result, JAL's international cargo network will expand to serve 4 cities in China on 6 routes with a total of 35 flights per week.
