Most Germans Agree with Putin’s Criticism
Roughly two-thirds of Germans agree with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in part that the United States endeavors to enforce its will on all other world making it unipolar, signaled the poll of Emnid held by order of TV network N24.
Of about 1,000 polled in Germany, 68 percent backed up the criticism that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin leveled at Washington during the Munich conference held late past week, Reuters reported.
The overwhelming majority of Germans spoke against the invasion of the U.S.-led coalition forces to Iraq in 2003. Their attitude to U.S. President George Bush was rather apprehensive despite the attempts of Chancellor Angela Merkel to soften relations of Germany and the United States. At the same time, 62 percent of respondents didn’t appear agitated about the military power of Russia even though it exceeds the power of their country.
In Munich, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin lashed out at NATO and the United States for the planned extension of alliance by Georgia and Ukraine, which brings it closer to Russia’s borders, and because of the U.S. intention to deploy components of the anti-missile defense system in Europe.
