Domani, secondo quello che qualcuno riporta su a.net, è il giorno della firma dell'accordo di c/s tra MH e AZ di cui si discute ormai da diversi mesi.

"Malaysia Airlines and Alitalia will sign a code-share agreement at the Malaysia Airlines Academy in Kelana Jaya (a suburb of Kuala Lumpur) at 10:15 a.m. (or 4:15 a.m. Europe Daylight Time) tomorrow. The extent of the code-share agreement has not been provided yet."

MAS, Alitalia seal codeshare agreement


Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) and Alitalia have sealed a code-share agreement that will allow the two airlines to gain access to each other’s networks between Malaysia and Australia and the southern part of Europe.

Starting June 1, 2007, Alitalia will have access to MAS’s seat inventory for flights between Kuala Lumpur and Rome as well as between Kuala Lumpur and Penang and market them under its designator code “AZ”.

In addition, Alitalia’s customers will also be able to travel from Malaysia to MAS’s three Australian gateways of Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

MAS’s customers have the option of services to Italian destinations served by Alitalia from Rome and Milan as well as five destinations in southern Europe – Barcelona, Athens, Geneva, Frankfurt and Madrid.

The two airlines sealed the agreement at a ceremony in Petaling Jaya on April 5.

In a joint statement, the two airlines said they were also looking at enhancing the agreement to enable their frequent flyer members to earn and redeem miles while traveling on each other’s flights.

They said moving forward, they were planning to expand their network reach that would enable both to gain more access to destinations in Malaysia and Italy.

MAS’s commercial director Datuk Rashid Khan: “This agreement is timely to our key business activities this year as we have launched 125 initiatives under our customer value proposition that provide more quality choices for our customers as well as flexible and convenient flight scheduling.”

“This strategic partnership accelerates our focus to heighten our market presence in the European key regions, through a hub-and-spoke network model. This agreement is also an extension of our government’s vision and goal to promote Malaysia in other parts of the world with the hope of bringing more tourists into Malaysia.”

Alitalia director of network agreement, Aureliano Cicala, said: “The agreement will integrate the collective networks in order to improve the offer to customers and bring more traffic to Malaysia, a country that is meeting more and more the favour of Italians.”

BCN MAD e ATH visto che con questo c/s puntavano all'Europa meridionale erano più che prevedibili. Anche GVA in effetti è ottimamente collegata da AZ a FCO, anche se non ci avevo pensato. Mi lascia perplesso FRA su cui non ne avverto la necessità dato che già ci volano direttamente. Piuttosto allora Monaco.

In effetti x il tuo viaggio in Australia è un accordo molto interessante, potresti volare "AZ" dall'inizio alla fine.

Penso al caso del codeshare con QR. Le tariffe con QR sono più basse.

MAS Sees Passenger Load Growth In Pact With Alitalia

PETALING JAYA, April 5 (Bernama) -- National carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is aiming for a 10 percent growth in passenger load through its latest code-sharing agreement with Italian airline Alitalia.

MAS and Alitalia signed the agreement Thursday, paving way for the two airlines to gain access into each other's networks between Malaysia and Australia, and the southern part of Europe.

MAS managing director Idris Jala said it was difficult to find a magic number for growth in passenger load.

Looking at a study done, it is possible to get this incremental volume in the routes that "we are serving collectively", he said.

"It is not just our case but in many other airlines where they have done this and have an increment of about five percent. But it depends, it could be more than five percent," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of the agreement between MAS and Alitalia here.

Idris said MAS was also in the midst of securing code-sharing agreements with airlines in India and China

He said the business between Italy and this part of the world comprising South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand was estimated to worth around US$650 million.

"With this code-sharing agreement, we hope that both of us will be able to garner strong market share," he added.

Alitalia's network agreement director Aureliano Cicala said the agreement would integrate the collective networks in order to improve choices for customers and bring more traffic to Malaysia.

dubito che AZ possa offrire tariffe concorrenziali tipo MH.
Penso al caso del codeshare con QR. Le tariffe con QR sono più basse.

AZ ha un allotment sui voli QR bassissimo, sui 20-30 posti a volo. Bisogna vedere quale sarà la capacità assegnata ad AZ sui voli MH, certo se la disponibilità non è molta è anche difficile fare promozioni.

effettivamente anche io sono stupito da FRA, non ricordavo se ci volassero o meno ma sicuramente stona. Avrei più che altro immaginato LIS o VLC e, ma qui non so se ci sia mercato, il nord africa
