Iran: atterraggio di emergenza a Teheran, sfiorata tragedia

Un aereo con un centinaio di persone a bordo e' stato costretto a un atterraggio di emergenza all'aeroporto 'Mehrabad' di Teheran, in Iran. Il velivolo, diretto a Shiraz, si e' trovato in difficolta' a causa di una fitta nevicata. Durante la fase di atterraggio i carrelli non si sono aperti correttamente e le ruote si sono staccate. Le ali dell'aereo, finito fuori pista, hanno preso fuoco, ma per fortuna i passeggeri e l'equipaggio, a parte qualche ferito lieve, sono usciti tutti illesi dall'incidente.

Plane catches fire on airport runway

The wings of an Iranian national carrier plane caught fire upon take-off on Wednesday at a Tehran airport but no one was injured, an airport official said.

"A (Dutch-made) Fokker 100 Iran Air plane which was going from Tehran to Shiraz (south) skidded off the runway," said the head of the air traffic control at Tehran's Mehrabad airport, identified only as Rasoulinejad.

"Its wheels were disconnected and part of its wing caught fire," he was quoted as saying on the Iranian state television website. The accident occurred at around 0400 GMT amid heavy snow.

Rasoulinejad added that all the one hundred passengers on board are safe and awaiting another plane to take them to Shiraz.

Fokker 100 had no defects before takeoff: official

Spokesman for Iran's Civil Aviation Organization announced Wednesday that the Fokker 100 plane which had an accident this morning had no defects before takeoff.

Talking to IRNA, Reza Jafarzadeh said the plane skidded off the runway before takeoff. The relief teams took out all passengers on board the plane immediately, he added.

He further said that small parts of the plane caught fire in the accident which were extinguished instantly.

Jafarzadeh added that the fire was so serious that it might endanger the lives of the passengers and was extinguished instantly.

A number of passengers were slightly injured who went under treatment immediately after the accident.

An Iran Air plane carrying 100 passengers, heading from Tehran to the southern provincial capital, Shiraz, at 07:20 hours local time (0350 GMT) skidded off the runway while trying to takeoff.

Jafarzadeh further said that the causes of this morning's plane accident are under investigation.
