Ufficiali nel senso che rispondono ai requisiti di legge (numero minimo di iscritti, adesione ai principi costituzionali, ecc.).
Esistono poi partiti a livello repubblicano (partiti locali, molto forti nelle repubbliche autonome), nonchè partiti che non sono riconosciuti (potranno esserlo solo se risponderanno ai requisiti di legge).
Infine la legge proibisce formazioni che usano terminologie e simboli religiosi (una mini "democrazia cristiana" anni fa dovette cambiare nome), che si ispirano al nazifascismo (aspetto sul quale Putin ha iniziato ad impegnarsi).
