Lino Capra Vaccina si affaccia al panorama musicale italiano negli anni '70 fondando, ancora giovanissimo, uno dei più interessanti gruppi etnopop presenti sulla scena, gli Aktuala, realizzando con loro incisioni discografiche, concerti, partecipando alle maggiori manifestazioni nazionali e festival pop. Ha studiato percussioni, pianoforte, composizione, storia della musica e canto corale presso la Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano. Inizia successivamente una lunga e intensa collaborazione con Franco Battiato in qualità di percussionista e coautore. Con lui tiene concerti e tournées in Italia e all'estero, partecipando a dischi, videoclip e alle più importante trasmissioni televisive e radiofoniche.
Nel 1975, insieme a Battiato, Juri Camisasca e altri dà nascita al gruppo "Telaio Magnetico" e partecipa a una serie di concerti nell'Italia centro-meridionale, rimasti nella storia dell'avanguardia del periodo. Nel gennaio 1995 é stato pubblicato per l'etichetta Musicando un CD live, intitolato "TELAIO MAGNETICO", che propone due dei concerti di quella tournée. Contemporaneamente a queste esperienze, ricerca e sviluppa un proprio linguaggio sonoro; come compositore realizza nel 1978 il suo primo disco "ANTICO ADAGIO", proponendolo in numerosi concerti e trasmissioni radiotelevisive. Nel febbraio 1995 esce la versione su CD per l'etichetta Musicando. Collabora a incisioni discografiche di diversi Artisti : Juri Camisasca, Alice, Giorgio Gaber ecc.

Come percussionista suona dal 1979 al 1985 nell'Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala sotto la direzione di maestri come Abbado, Pretre, Osawa ecc. approfondendo la propria esperienza nell'ambito della musica classica e contemporanea.
Nel 1992 registra un nuovo disco "L'attesa", pubblicato per l'etichetta Lynx di Firenze.
Ha realizzato commenti sonori per spot pubblicitari televisivi e cinematografici e per Pubblicità Progresso. Nel 1994 ha realizzato in qualità di consulente musicale e conduttore con l'emittente radiofonica milanese Nova Radio A. In occasione delle elezioni europee, nell'ambito di un programma sulla nuova Europa, ha tenuto un concerto in diretta dagli studi della radio, presentando "L'attesa" e le sue ultime composizioni.
Svolge attività didattica come insegnante di percussioni, canto corale, teoria e cultura musicale presso i Centri di Educazione Permanente del Comune di Milano.
Nel 1995 registra "IN CAMMINO TRA SETTE CIELI" pubblicato dalla Musicando di Ferrara in collaborazione con le Edizioni Musicali Crotalo di Ravenna.
Maggio 1998 esce il CD "SULLA CORDA DI LUCE" (Musicando/Crotalo).

Lino 'Capra' Vaccina has studied percussions, piano and composition, and started his musical carrer with the band Aktuala, then he worked for Franco Battiato, along with he formed the short-living project 'Telaio Magnetico'; after those experiences he released an amazing album, 'antico adagio', before disappear until the 90s, when he started a new course of his musical production, a bit in new age style.
In the tradition of every social group, modal music has always represented the first degree of evolution in musical theory and practice as well as its final goal.In the western world some centuries of polyphony have created a current which has slowly grown to become incompatible with the modal rules of ancient music. In these days, when all noble traditions are dying, people are trying to recover the archaic modules of composition. In modal music there must be a drone given by the tonic note to that the audience can identify themselves with it and discover the indipendent harmony existing between this note and the relative second and third minor notes, fourth fifth sixth seventh minor notes. The sound can be of two kinds: anahata on ethereal sound, the music of the spheres which is not generated by a movement of the air but by the primary vibration that is the first expression of the relationship between the static principle and the dynamic one. This sound creates numerical models which are at the basis of the world of forms.In ancient Indian religions and the Mediterrean area, number five was the symbol of life and the pentatonic scale would represent the vital process, the continuity of the transcendent subtle physical being. The ahata sound is produced by a physical vibration and can be perceived by the human ear within a determined range of frequencies. It is the falling of the ethereal sound on the material world. It preserves the same formative numerical relationship of its immaterial origin and gives joy and pleasure to human beings. The sound of the spheres leads to Liberation, the physical sound gives pleasure (from Narada Purana). Modal art, both chromatic and musical, is a direct expression of the energy governing Nature. The knowledge of such rules leads the musician, as in the case of Lino Vaccina, to create works whose tradition goes back to the origins of ethnic groups, almost completely disappered by now, which hold the meaning of Absolute Knowledge.
