Grazie a tutti, ALLOCCONI!!!

LONDON (CNNSI.com) -- AC Milan, which claimed first place in Italy at the weekend, also leaps to first place on the CNN/World Soccer Top 10 club poll as Real Madrid and Arsenal both suffered their first defeats of the season.
Carlos Ancelotti’s side continued its impressive ascent with a 4-1 win over Atalanta, ousting city rival Inter Milan at the top of Serie A on goal difference and climbing from the No. 3 spot on last week’s poll to end Real Madrid’s eight week domination at No. 1. New signings Rivaldo and Jon Dahl Tomasson both scored and Andrea Pirlo added two more.
Main strikers Filippo Inzaghi and Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko were missing through injury but both could return for Milan’s Champions League clash at home to Bayern Munich in Group G on Wednesday. Having already beaten Bayern in Germany and Deportivo La Coruna in Spain, a win would guarantee the Italian side’s passage out of the one of the toughest first round groups.
Slipping to No. 2, Real Madrid was outplayed Saturday by Liga newcomer Racing Santander in a 2-0 defeat described by Vicente Del Bosque as the European champion’s worst performance in his three years as coach. Its first defeat of the season leaves it in fifth place in the Liga and extends its run without a league win away from home to six matches.
Real was missing Luis Figo and Raul against Santander and the star duo are also likely to miss Tuesday’s Champions League clash with AEK Athens at the Bernabeu. But Ronaldo, who played his first full 90 minutes Saturday, should make his European debut with Real seeking a win to secure its place in the second round.
English champion Arsenal drops to third after its first Premier League defeat in 30 games at Everton. A spectacular last-minute strike from 16-year-old Wayne Rooney sealed a 2-1 win for the home side while Liverpool’s win at Leeds also knocked Arsene Wenger’s side off first place in the domestic standings.
The good news for Gunners fans though is that Robert Pires is back in contention after six months on the sidelines following knee surgery. The French winger could make his comeback against Auxerre at Highbury on Tuesday. With a perfect winning record and no goals conceded so far in the Champions League, Arsenal can wrap up a place in the second group stage.
Inter Milan climbs to No. 4, despite dropping league points for the first time this season and losing the Serie A lead to AC Milan, after salvaging a 1-1 draw against Juventus in the first big Italian derby of the season. Alessandro del Piero looked to have grabbed all three points for the Turin side when he scored from a last-minute penalty but Christian Vieri poked home Inter’s equalizer after a desperate goalmouth scramble four minutes into injury time. On Tuesday however Inter will be seeking to avenge its 2-1 home defeat by Lyon in the Champions League as it visits the French champion.
Senegalese duo El-Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao teamed up to seal Liverpool’s 1-0 over Leeds on Saturday with Diouf setting up Diao to score his first goal in a red shirt. Liverpool now heads the Premier League following Arsenal’s defeat and jumps four places on the poll to No. 5.
On Tuesday Liverpool is hoping to boost its Champions League qualifying ambitions by becoming the first British team ever to win at Spartak Moscow. Gerard Houllier’s side out-played the Russians in a 5-0 win at Anfield three weeks ago and the French coach is likely to restore first choice strikers Michael Owen and Emile Heskey in the hope of a repeat display.
Spanish champion Valencia stays fourth in the Liga but drops two places to sixth in the poll after a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the weekend. More worryingly, Argentine playmaker Pablo Aimar suffered a collarbone injury that will keep him out of Valencia’s Champions League clash with Basle on Tuesday and possibly next weekend’s league match with Athletic Bilbao. A win against the Swiss side will maintain the Ches’ perfect start in Europe and clinch their place in the second group stage.
Italian champion Juventus failed to gain ground on Inter Milan in Serie A and falls behind on the top 10, dropping two places to No. 7. Aiming to put that disappointment behind it, Marcello Lippi’s side can move closer to a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a win at Newcastle in their Champions League clash Wednesday.
Ajax drops to No. 8 despite reaching the top of the Dutch table in stunning style, beating AZ Alkmaar 6-2 while main rivals PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord could only draw. Ahmed "Mido" Hossam, Jari Litmanen and Nourdin Boukhari all scored twice. Ajax will be hoping to carry that sort of form into its Champions League Group D clash with Norwegian champion Rosenborg. With group leader Lyon facing second-placed Inter Milan, a win would push Ajax into one of the two qualifying positions for the second group stage.
Argentine leader Independiente stays in the top 10 at No. 9 after stretching its lead at the top of Argentina’s Apertura championship to five points with six rounds remaining as Rodolfo Aquino’s goal secured a 1-0 win over Estudiantes. Nearest rival River Plate crashed to a 5-0 defeat home defeat against Banfield in a match that was abandoned because of crowd violence.
Bayern Munich rounds out the top 10 after continuing its impressive start to the Bundesliga campaign with a 1-0 win at at high-flying Hansa Rostock on Saturday establishing a five-point gap at the top of the German standings. Brazilian Ze Roberto scored his first goal for the club and coach Ottmar Hitzfeld says the result is an ideal boost before its crunch Champions League trip to Milan on Wednesday.
Tipped by many at the start of the season as the likeliest challengers to Real Madrid, the Bavarians are still seeking their first win of their European campaign and must claim all three points at the San Siro to avoid an embarrassing early exit.
Others receiving votes are Real Sociedad (Spain), Manchester United (England), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), River Plate (Argentina), Barcelona (Spain), FC Porto (Portugal), Olimpia (Paraguay).
The CNN/World Soccer Top 10 is a unique ranking of football clubs determined each Monday through voting by correspondents from CNN Sports and World Soccer magazine.
