Appunto non prevedeva risposta ma visto che marcogiov lo ha fatto.....

Io continuo a credere che Alitalia avrebbe potuto benissimo mantenere solo FCO come hub sviluppando un vero sistema di feederaggio dalle zone piu' ricche e businees oriented del Paese (che non e' certo l'area di MXP, semmai e' la parte a Est di Milano) verso Roma. E' innegabile quanto FCO sia posizionato meglio di Malpensa sotto molti punti di vista.
Non si e' mai sentita una lamentela da queste parti per le tegole strappate dagli aerei ne' risente della vicinanza di mostri quali Zurigo Monaco Francoforte Parigi e Amsterdam.
Per non dire dell'enorme quantita' di spazio pianeggiante libero per espandersi.

Ma tanto tutto questo parlare e' perfettamente inutile

Non voglio piu' andare fuori tema.....come la vedete una LGA-DCA tra le piu' trafficate?

MAD-BCN ha un bel numero di voli, anche con 340.
HKG-LHR non è da meno. E credo pure la SYD-MEL (wide e narrow di QA e Virgin Blue -mi perdonerete se non ne conosco il codice, vero?? -)
Forse anche la JFK-MIA è in buona posizione.

Io da Milano non prenderò mai una coincidenza a Fiumicino per andare in USA o Giappone, allungando il viaggio di due ore, a meno che non mi regalino il biglietto.

E infatti ai tempi del Sistema Leonardo tutto il nord Italia ha voltato le spalle ad Alitalia.

I did it! Yesterday, I finally bought my flight from Italy to Osaka (I will stay one month in Japan). At the end of a long search, my choice went to Alitalia, I bought a flight on the 24th of April which will leave from Milan MXP and arrive directly in Osaka KIX. While my final choice was mainly because of the good deal I could get on this ticket, being an aviation fan I also thought quite a lot about the airline and, especially, the aircraft which would carry me to my destination. Actually I was on the verge of buying Lufthansa to fly on the brand new 340-600 (and also.. ona more connection is a plus for me :P!), and I must admit that being from Torino, I am biased towards Lufthansa, Air France and KLM. In fact I rarely flew on other airlines for long haul and never trusted Alitalia with an International flight farther than Malta. So, this is the first time of many things for me: the first time I will fly on Alitalia for long haul, as I was writing, the first time I will take a "point to point" flight, the first time I will land in KIX, the "drowning" airport, the first time I will fly a 777 for a flight more than 2 hours long (the only other time on that plane was a KE from Kimpo to Narita) , the first time I will take a twinjet to Asia (actually this is quite a bit worrying for me.. as I was fond of the 744 and looking outside the windows to see four engines!)..

With this travel I will give second thoughts to many ideas I previously had, as time ago I was sure I would never fly with AZ unless for a connection (this is not uncommon in here as AZ does not have a really good image and I kind of used to think the only people who would always fly them are the political kind of guys who get the free tickets). I thought point to point flight was really not practical and would be expensive (but, surprise! This very direct flight I bought is the lowest fare I could find!!), and I did not really like the 777 (even if I like the *technical* aspect of it) as the only other time I was on one, I thought it was LOUD : adding to the engines noise, there were the incredibly loud lavatories - that noisy flush from the back toilet became my nightmare during that luckily brief flight - on a comparison a flight on a 330 from the same airline from Incheon to Jakarta was incredibly smooth and peaceful (even if, then too, I was not far from the lavatories). Now I will see how is the new 777-200ER (hope not 10 noisy hours). Alitalia won me over for the price, and because the very last flight I had with them (MXP - Malta , when I bought AZ because it was the only available choice) was fine and the service surprisingly good. Well, let's wait and see, expect my first travel report in May !
