Lufthansa suggests Poland could become East - West transfer hub
From Poland A.M.
Lufthansa Airlines will fly to more regional ports and will not take over LOT, said Lufhansa president in Poland Thorsten Bohg.
"The rumors on the takeover did not hold water, as we do not want to buy carriers but cooperate with them," underlined Bohg. Luthansa will extend its list of destinations as the market for regional flights is growing and last year the German carrier grossed more on flights to and from its three regional ports: Gdañsk, Cracow and Poznañ than from servicing flights to Warsaw. Bohg further announced that by the end of 2007 Lufthansa will fly to 8 Polish cities. At the moment the company is in talks on extending its offer with £ódŸ and Bydgoszcz. For Luthansa, Poland is one of the three strategic markets after China and India and according to Bohg Warsaw stands a good chance for becoming a transfer hub for passengers from Central Europe, as well as for passengers from the West travelling to Asia.
