ho notato molte foto di questa compagnia statunitense, la World Airways, e mi pare di aver capito che effettua charter militari... Vorrei sapere se questa compagnia effettua anche servizio di linea, e se si, su quali tratte.

La World Airways è una compagnia americana con base ad Oackland (contea a sud di San Francisco-CA), effettua voli di charter e cargo. Per un pò ha effettuato voli di linea low cost.

World Airways, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of World Air Holdings, Inc., is a U.S. certificated air carrier established in 1948. For 57 years, World Airways has been a global provider of long-range passenger and cargo air transportation services to the U.S. Air Force, major international airlines and freight forwarders, international leisure tour operators and cruise ship companies.

The company operates 16 wide-body, long-range aircraft (MD-11s and DC-10s) under two types of fixed-rate contracts - ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) and Full Service. Under both types of contracts, the customer bears the responsibility for filling the aircraft's passenger and cargo capacity. Many of World's airline customers have determined that outsourcing a portion of their wide-body passenger or cargo requirements can be cost-effective, offering significant operational and financial flexibility.


The company's mission is to provide specialized air transportation solutions through innovative people committed to delivering the highest levels of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and shareholder value.

World has been based in Peachtree City, Georgia, since 2001. The company has 1,400 employees and annual revenue of approximately $500 million. Pilots and flight attendants are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and dispatchers are represented by the Transport Workers Union of America AFL/CIO.

Current customers include the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command, EVA Airways, Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, Sonair, Lufthansa Cargo Charter and China Airlines. World also provided charter passenger service in 2004 for the National Football League's Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars and the U.S. Paralympics team.

World Airways is a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Metropolitan Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.
