problemi per Biman

Un pò di seri problemi ultimamente per la Biman Bangladesh Airlines. La flotta lungo raggio è praticamente interamente a terra, aerei 'azzoppati' fermi un pò ovunque (Dhaka, Bruxelles ....etc). L'ira dei pax intanto sale.
Le cose dovrebbero tornare, almeno momentaneamente, a una quasi normalità da settimana prox, dal 27 Feb.
Nel frattempo la compagnia non è in grado di operare i voli e la maggior parte dei pax viene 'bidonata' e nei casi migliori riprotetta su altri vettori.

Il problema fondamentale di BG è una flotta obsoleta e in alcuni casi operativi troppo 'impegnativi' per gli aerei che si hanno a disposizione.
Se le cose andranno in porto ci dovrebbero essere dei 777 e/o 333 in vista per BG, ma chi può dirlo se veramente questi arriveranno. Io ho i miei dubbi.

Inutile dire che anche i voli su FCO sono stati cancellati negli ultimi giorni.




Bangladesh Passengers Stranded As Planes Grounded

Biman Bangladesh Airlines told irate passengers stranded for days by a shortage of aircraft it would lease two planes to clear the backlog.

Three out of five DC-10s operated by Bangladesh's state-owned airline had been grounded for mechanical faults and routine maintenance, forcing it to change international flight schedules 17 times over the past week, Biman officials said on Sunday.

Angry passengers, many stranded at Dhaka Airport for days without knowing when they may fly, threatened to besiege Biman's airport office and to take their protest on to the streets.

"It is the third day I am stranded at the airport. I have already spent some 8,000 taka (USD$119) for food and lodging," said Abdur Rob, a Bangladeshi man waiting to fly to Saudi Arabia.

"It is an intolerable situation... with no Biman officials available to explain where we stand now or when they might be able to fly us out."

Some passengers bound for jobs in the Middle East said they had no money to buy food or no one was helping them.

"Unless we reach our destinations soon, we may lose our jobs even before joining," said another passenger at the airport, who declined to be named.

"I have sold everything to buy the airline ticket for the journey. If I stay put, my future will be lost," he told a television channel.

Biman operates 26 international destinations with a fleet of 13 aircraft, including five DC-10s, four Airbus A310-300s and four Dutch-built Fokker F-28s.

"The schedule breakdown will be over soon as the grounded planes are expected to fly again, and also we are trying to lease two aircraft immediately," S.A.H. Kazi, deputy general manager of Biman, said on Sunday.

He said Biman was expecting to issue a lease tender in a few days, but gave no details.

Già ho notato numerossisime cancellazioni su FCO in questi giorni(mi sembra da qualche settimana) e mi chiedevo come mai...ora è tutto più chiaro.

La situazione di BG era nell'aria da tempo....

Strano ma vero, hanno operato oggi da FCO e anche abbastanza puntuali (anche se il venerdì non sarebbe giorno di volo). Forse piano piano si torna alla normalità.

Penso che qui DC10-30 abbiano più di 25 anni... e chissà quanti controlli.

Pare che stiano cercando 2 wide bodies da prendere in leasing per prossimi due anni,la scelta dovrebbe ricadere tra A310-300s , A300-600s , 767-300s , 767-400s.

Se pensi che CSA e Tarom, sano gli A310 per le tratte con gli Stati Uniti...
Gli A310 hanno un'autonomia medio-alta, poco più di 8.000km...
Gli A300 sui 7000/7500km...

Per il tipo di operativi che hanno (diversi stop lungo una rotta), vanno più che bene. Inoltre loro hanno già in flotta degli Airbus 310.

I progetti della compagnia sarebbero comunque quelli di dotarsi di 777 e 333 in futuro.

Oggi Biman manda a Bruxelles un DC-10 da Dhaka via Dubai (novità?).
Volo schedulato in arrivo alle 16.55, in arrivo alle 17.22.
Il volo prosegue poi per New York alle 18.25.
