I'll start with Isaiah 45 while just leaving Plymouth (England) to Plymouth (Massachussets). God is Eternal and Sovereign in Human History. He called and anointed Cyrus before he was born for His purposes. He knows and controls the destiny of all nations and people. He knows what I left and why and He knows where I am going and what will happen. He will be in control all the way through and He will protect the nation where I am going to live. He is YHWH from and for ever and ever and protects the life, future and offspring of those who love Him. He will provide e protect us.
Inizio con Isaia 45, lasciando Plymouth (England). Dio e' Eterno e Sovrano sulla Storia Umana. Egli ha chiamato ed unto Ciro prima che nascesse per compiere i suoi disegni. Egli conosce cosa lascio e perche', e conosce pure dove vado e cosa accadra'. Dio sara' continuamente in controllo... Dio e' YHWH in eterno e proteggera' la vita, il futuro e la discendenza di coloro che lo amano.
The first part of the chapter deals with the call of Cyrus long before he is even born!
Cyrus is here called God’s anointed, because he was designed and qualified by God, and as such he becomes a type of the Messiah. God will hold his right hand, to strengthen and sustain him and to direct his motions and intentions.
The prophet Isaiah foretold that a conqueror named Cyrus would destroy Babylon and subdue Egypt along with most of the rest of the known world. This same man, said Isaiah, would decide to let the Jewish exiles in his territory go free without any payment of ransom (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13). Isaiah made this prophecy 150 years before Cyrus was born, 180 years before Cyrus performed any of these feats (and he did, eventually, perform them all), and 80 years before the Jews were taken into exile.
Babylon was 196 miles square, enclosed not only by a moat, but also by a double wall 330 feet high, each part 90 feet thick. It was said to be indestructible, yet two Bible prophets declared its doom. These prophets claimed that the ruins would be avoided by travellers, that the city would never again be inhabited, and that its stones would not even be moved to be reused for building (Isaiah 13:17-22 and Jeremiah 51:26, 43).
If you like to see in what sort of context the prophecy about Cyrus gets fulfilled, please read the 5th chapter of Daniel, where the arrogance and the filthy abomination of Belshazzar, in the act of offending God and His Temple, while he was in the suitable company of his friend and concubines, finds a sharp and quick response from God. Wine, sex and hysteria of power and greatness were in tune with the praise and worshipping of fake gods, when the great Belshazzar had his countenance changed, his loins loosed and knees smote one against the other. What God told him that night was exactly was a fulfilment of the promise to Cyrus 150 years before he was born.
Josephus, the Jewish historian reported that the Jews in Babylon showed Cyrus the prophecies in the Bible with his name written in them and what God would have done by and for him. Cyrus as gratitude and acknowledgment towards God fulfilled also the rest of the prophecy concerning the return of Israel to land of the Fathers. This is reported in “Antiquities 11.1.2”
Then the scholars “decided” by their autarchic academic “emission” that Isaiah couldn’t have been written before Cyrus, and therefore there should be 3 o 4 different Isaiah. Naturally all fake alias academic emission! Jesus said it well: “… men loved darkness rather then light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3: 19
“Evil” here is the Hebrew Ra’ in the ethical sense, while the “evil” in Isaiah 45:7 relates to the promise of God to appoint Cyrus for his plans and eventually destroy Babylon.
The “Cyrus Cylinder” contains an amazing confirmation of the biblical narrative: “All of their people I gathered together and restored to their dwelling-places…” (M.Prince, “The Monuments and the Old Testament”)
