EgyptAir today received approval from the Board of Star Alliance to be accepted as a future member. The Egyptian flag carrier will be the 21st member in the largest global alliance.

Coincides with the announcement, the opening of Cairo Airport new Terminal 3, due 2008, will see all Star Alliance members moving to the new terminal, along with Egypt Air, part of the alliance's "Move Under one Roof" concept.

EgpytAir's entry to Star gives Star stronger presence in Middle East and Northern African region.

The Star Alliance network coverage, including existing 17 members, as well as future members - Air China, Shanghai Airlines, Turkish Airlines, EgyptAir - will expand to 944 destinations in 161 countires, operating over 17700 daily flights. EgyptAir alone will being 9 new destinations to the alliance.
