Such hatred of women, such disdain! The public prosecutor’s accusation: in order to find out whether his ex-girlfriend had cheated on him, a young woman was asked to swear on the Koran. When she refused, the man attacked her and raped her. He had previously beaten her up with a baseball bat.
Bulgarian Ilia K. ( aged 24) is led in handcuffs to his trial in room 12 E at Frankfurt District Court on Wednesday, hiding under his anorak. Almost exclusively family members and friends are sitting in the audience area. The charges are rape, assault and violation of the Protection Against Violence Act. His victim: ex-girlfriend Döndü G. ( aged 19).
The crime scene is Nordweststadt in Frankfurt/Main, a problem district with many high-rise apartment buildings. The young woman had already broken up with K. in 2023 – because he had hit her with a baseball bat. Motive: jealousy! Sentence at the time: ten months’ probation.
But Ilia K. apparently continued to stalk and harass his ex. Prosecutor Luisa Mende says: “He repeatedly threatened to beat up and stab the victim and also threatened family members.”
On June 25, 2024, he then lured his victim into a park, according to the indictment. The prosecutor: “He asked her to put her hand on the Koran and swear that she had not betrayed him.” Döndü did not want to do this, saying that she was on her period and could not swear on the Koran during it.
Her tormentor then allegedly threatened her with death and beat her several times. According to the indictment, he then dragged her by the hair into a bush and raped her. He also threatened to do this again and to videotape it. Then the entire city of Frankfurt would see the video. Ilia K. kept a straight face as the charges were read out. “Today we will remain silent, he will not make any statements, neither about the crime nor about his personal circumstances”, said his lawyer Ivo Hänel.

French minister: ‘Hatred of Jews comes essentially from the Arab-Muslim world’
"Islamism makes hatred of the Jews its matrix and its main objective,’’ said former French prime minister Manuel Valls.
(March 27, 2025 / European Jewish Press)
Hatred of the Jews now comes mainly from the Arab-Muslim world, French Minister of Overseas Manuel Valls said earlier this week.
In an interview with CNEWS-Europe 1 on Monday, Valls reacted to anti-Jewish slogans chanted at anti-racist demonstrations over the weekend.
“What has changed over the last twenty-five years is that this hatred of Jews comes essentially from the Arab-Muslim world, in France as elsewhere,” he said. “Islamism makes hatred of the Jews its matrix and its main objective,’’ added the former prime minister.

The statement echoes the words of French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, who has said that antisemitism now wears a “double face” in France, “Islamism and the far left,” while far-right anti-Semitism has become “residual.”
In an article published in the Le Monde daily of Friday, over 200 personalities pleaded “so that anti-Zionism no longer serves as a pretext for antisemitism”.

“It’s up to the Republic to protect Jews,’’ they wrote, denouncing “anti-Zionism” as a “pretext for antisemitism.”
“Anti-Zionism is all the rage,” begins the article, written by the “Nous vivrons” collective set up in the wake of the unprecedented Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
“The message is simple: Zionism is colonialism that must be eliminated,” the letter states.
Signatories include Yonathan Arfi, president of Crif, the umbrella body of French Jewish institutions, former French premier Gabriel Attal, former French president François Hollande, philosopher Elisabeth Badinter, Minister for Equality between Women and Men Aurore Bergé, actress Charlotte Gainsbourg and writer Anne Sinclair.
“Since Oct. 8, 2023, we have witnessed a relativism of the massacres of Oct. 7, 2023, and a condemnation of Zionism. In short, if the Jews hadn’t been there, all this wouldn’t have happened,” the letter continues, noting that “according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior, a third of the antisemitic acts recorded in 2024 were motivated by the Palestinian cause.’’

Germany: Muslim serial offenders beat two gays up
Zentrum Augsburg – Google Maps
Last Saturday at around 00:45, two men (26,28) were out and about in Maximilianstraße in Augsburg. There they were insulted by a group of adolescents – a scuffle ensued. The group of men beat both men to the ground and continued to kick them – including ‘in the upper body and head area’, according to the police. The perpetrators then fled. However, an immediate manhunt was able to track down and arrest two suspects ( aged 22, 23) – both had an alcohol level of more than 1.2 per mille.
In an interview with the local newspaper, a victim of the current offence reported that he had feared for his life while the perpetrators were kicking him while he was lying on the ground. They are said to have insulted the victim as a ‘faggot’.
However, Halid S. is not among the suspects who were arrested that night (and have since been released). According to the newspaper, he is said to have gone into hiding. S. has German, Turkish and Lebanese citizenship.
Both victims were treated at Augsburg University Hospital during the night – initially with intensive care. The findings: concussions, bruises to the head, shoulder, back and chest as well as injuries to the face.
The newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine now reports that the motive is said to be hatred of gays. And one of the suspects is already a convicted violent offender – the then 17-year-old Halid S. is said to have beaten the then 49-year-old firefighter Roland S. to death on Königsplatz in Augsburg in December 2019. Halid S. had previously attracted attention for drug and assault offences. In November 2020, he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison by the Augsburg Regional Court for assault resulting in death. He had therefore only been at large again for a few months.

An event which honours members of the Armed Forces in a Nottinghamshire town has been cancelled. The Armed Forces Day celebrations in Mansfield will not go ahead on the June 28, to the disappointment of veteran charities.
Nottinghamshire Live understands the event, organised by the Mansfield Business Improvement District (BID), was cancelled due to costs related to anti-terror measures. It comes amid government plans to strengthen the security of public events, such as the introduction of Martyn’s Law, which is expected to come into effect this summer.
The legislation will require enhanced safety measures at large-scale events such as barriers or vehicle barriers to protect the public. Mansfield BID, an organisation formed of town centre businesses, did not respond to requests for comment.

Rick Richardson, branch secretary of Mansfield's Royal Air Force Association (RAFA), said he was "disappointed" by the event's cancellation. He said he was told by Mansfield BID the decision was due to the increased cost of anti-terror measures, including the installation of bollards.
"It's going to hurt a lot of charities," said Mr Richardson. "There's three or four of them that depend on Armed Forces Day that collect money to keep them going for the rest of the year.
"We collect throughout the year so we don't do badly." Mansfield District Council said it did not support the event financially, due to budgetary constraints, and had no say on whether it took place.
