Sono state recentemente riviste le specifiche delle due versioni prossime del 350

A350-800

In sostanza il velivolo compete direttamente con il 7E7-9 per il carico mentre per il range dovrebbe avere un leggero vantaggio
A350-900
300pax
7500nm
In sostanza si pone come successore del 343 avendo la stessa capacità di carico ma con con un pelo più di range. Questa versione punta ad attaccare il 772ER.

Il peso dovrebbe essere aumentato dalle 233t del 330 a 242t.
L' ala verrà completamente ridisegnata e costruita con una grande quantità di compositi (da notare che il 7E7 concentrerà l' uso di compositi in fusoliera).
La fusoliera verrà ridisegnata in talune parti ma sostanzialmente resterà invariato il progetto aerodinamico.
La questione motori è un pelino più problematica: la richiesta di spinta dell' aereo è intorno alle 75.000 libbre cioè di più di quanto richiesto dal 7E7. GE sembra che ce la possa fare ad arrivarci con un certo agio, il Trent 1000 non tanto.
Il costo del progetto è ora stimato a 3 - 3.5 Miliardi di euro indicando che non è un semplice ritocco.

Airbus to get go ahead to start marketing A350

Airbus, the European aircraft maker, is expected to receive approval within weeks from its shareholders, EADS and BAE Systems, to start marketing the planned A350 mid-range aircraft as a rival to Boeing's 7E7 Dreamliner.

The board of European Aeronautic Defence and Space company (EADS) met on Monday to discuss the project and Airbus's future product policy.

A spokesman for the Franco-German group said the board had fully supported the proposals put forward by Airbus management. A final go-ahead was expected during December.

The EADS board is due to meet again on December 10.

A spokesman for BAE Systems said the UK group, which has two members on the Airbus shareholders committee, was co-operating closely with EADS and the two groups were in full agreement on the A350 project.

The aircraft is being designed by Airbus as a response to the 7E7, which Boeing plans to bring into service in 2008 with its launch customer All Nippon Airways of Japan.

It will be a derivative of the current mid-market Airbus A330-200, but will have 1000 nautical miles of extra range at 7,500-7,600 miles to compete with the 7E7. Airbus is still discussing with its shareholders the scope of the programme and the extent of the wing and fuselage modifications.

It is expected to use the same engines as those being developed by Rolls-Royce and General Electric for the 7E7 to give improved fuel performance, and it will also incorporate technology developed for the Airbus A380 superjumbo including the use of new materials to reduce weight.

According to Noël Forgeard, Airbus chief executive, the A350 could be ready to enter into service in 2009, only a year after the Boeing 7E7 is due to start flying.

The European group has declared that it will also apply for loans of up to €1bn from European governments to help finance the €3bn development of the A350, as long as the current US/EU agreement on the financing of large civil aircraft is still in force.

In early October the US and the European Commission launched the biggest dispute in the history of the World Trade Organisation with counter suits claiming that both Boeing and Airbus had previously received billions of dollars in illegal aid for the development of new aircraft. Boeing is seeking to terminate the 1992 financing agreement, which allows Airbus to apply for repayable government launch aid.

Quello è il range che circolava 2 settimane fa, dopo aver sentito in giro si reso obbligatorio aumentarlo.

Spero che Airbus faccia chiarezza presto. Comunque penso che le 7.730nm del 772ER siano sufficienti.

Airbus, col pretesto di rispondere al 7E7, sta anche eliminando l' anacronismo dei 4 motori per aerei da 300 posti e rispondendo al 772ER.
