Protecting Marriage

On November 8, 2005, Texans will have the opportunity to either defend and protect marriage or undermine it. As we go to the polls in this Election, Texans will be voting on a variety of Constitutional Amendments. If passed, Proposition 2 will protect traditional marriage, and our State Constitution will ensure that “marriage in this state consists only of the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting this state or a political subdivision of this state from creating or recognizing any legal status identical or similar to marriage".

The RPT website has vital resources related to the upcoming November 8th Constitutional Amendment Election, with a particular focus on the Marriage Amendment. By placing our long-standing definition of marriage in the Texas Constitution, voters will ensure that activist judges cannot usurp the will of the people through out-of-control court decisions. We have included talking points, sample letters to the editor, key election dates, and pastor resources including bulletin inserts for churches and guidelines for registering to vote. The RPT worked with state lawmakers to pass this important legislation and is working with Republican and pro-family leaders across the State to help turn out Republicans for this Election.

Additionally, Chairman Benkiser has been working hand-in-hand with leaders from the Black and Hispanic communities to energize their constituencies in this effort. Further, we have several pro-marriage rallies scheduled before the Election.

Traditionally voter turnout for off-year elections is low. For this reason it is imperative that everyone vote and help to turn out like-minded friends, co-workers, club members and fellow parishioners.

With your help, we can preserve in Texas law the historic institution of marriage as the union of one man and one woman and protect our State from those who wish to undermine both marriage and the family!

Praticamente l'8 novembre c'e' un voto in Texas per far scrivere nella costituzione (del Texas) un emendamento con testo:
"Il matrimonio in questo stato consiste solo nell'unione di un uomo e di una donna e proibisce qualsiasi posizione politica dal creare o riconoscere qualsiasi status legale simile al matrimonio"

Sperem che vinca.

cioè si limita anche la libertà di pensiero oltre a vietare i matrimoni gay non si può neanche più dire che si è favorevoli viva la democrazia

bè......... ritengo strano che nella Costituzione americana questo non fosse già stato scritto.......persino da noi l'Art.29 della Costituzione comunque sia sancisce la priorità del fondamento del Matrimonio quale BENE ASSOLUTAMENTE IMPORTANTE PER LA SOCIETA' FUTURA......sarebbe dupo, chissà, aggiungere anche da noi il particolare "UOMO E DONNA" visto che qui la confusione è tanta...... Grazie Texas.

Caro Benfy nessuna limitazione di pensiero.....diciamo che tale regola aiuterebbe la società A NON IMPORRE unioni aberranti CONTRO IL DIRITTO NATURALE... riconoscendole come fotocopie del MATRIMONIO poi tu potrai vivere come ti pare e piace......ma se non esistesse UNA REGOLA FONDAMENTALE VALIDA PER TUTTI, sarebbe il caos e l'anarchia.......

Si dira' l'otto novembre in maniera democratica con il voto dei cittadini.
Guarda ieri ho sentito questo bellissimo paragone, in Chiesa.
L'uomo (in genere) e' come un bambino. Vuole scoprire tante cose, vuole cercare di progredire secondo le sue modalita'. Cosi' come un bambino vuole toccare il fuoco finche' non si scotta.
E in un asilo di bambini ha tantissime di queste voci e idee. Pero' tra tutti questi bambini serve un adulto che si assuma sia le responsabilita' sia il dovere di correggere e aiutare questi bambini nella scelta. Questa, e' la Chiesa.
Poi, come tutti i bambini, i bambini saranno tristi di sentirsi un "non toccare il fuoco che scotta!"

Beh la votazione e' per la costituzione del Texas, non quella USA. Penso che altri stati seguiranno.
Ricordati inoltre che la costituzione USA e' ben diversa da quella d'Italia (e grazie a Dio ben diversa da quello schifo legal-economico-finanziario illeggibile della costituzione Europea).
