This just in from MIT: Religion is helpful
Going to church is good for you. If the commandment about keeping the Sabbath holy isn’t enough, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston has confirmed the good news. It’s been reported that MIT economist Jonathan Gruber has discovered frequent churchgoers have higher incomes, more education, less welfare participation, more marriages and fewer divorces than the general population.
Mr. Gruber has theorized that churchgoers have more social contacts that provide financial and emotional support in times of setbacks. He also guesses in a report that religion does improve a person’s well- being. The MIT research doesn’t seem to mention God or prayer but we’ll give the institute points for beginning to arrive at most churchgoers’ assumption: God is good.
