Dutch KLM airlines to increase flights between China's Chengdu and Amsterdam
The KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will increase flights between Amsterdam and Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province in southwest China, from two to three return flights a week, the company said on Tuesday.
The new service, starting from December, will depart from Chengdu on Saturdays and from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on Fridays. The two existing flights depart from Chengdu on Mondays and Wednesdays and from Amsterdam on Tuesdays and Sundays.
"The new service, like the existing two, will be operated with Boeing 777-200ER aircraft," said Adriaan Den Heijer, general manager in central east Asia of KLM, at a press conference.
"And the return ticket remains 4,888 yuan (611 U.S. dollars)," he said.
KLM launched the scheduled service between Chengdu and Amsterdam on May 28 this year, the only direct flight between southwest China and Europe.
