I Cocteau Twins erano la band tipica della 4AD, l'etichetta simbolo del Dark che oggi diremmo "etereo". "Treasure" è il loro album capolavoro. Le atmosfere create in studio sono irripetibili live, tuttavia è bello guardare Liz Fraser, dolcissima, mentre canta...

Mi ricordo dei Cult quando si chiamavano ancora Southern Death Cult (e poi Death Cult). Nicola aveva passato qualche loro brano alla radio, negli anni 1983-84, tuttavia non mi avevano colpito particolarmente e come Cult, spostatiti sull'hard rock, non li ho mai seguiti.

In merito ai Jesus and Mary Chain, il loro avvento coincise ahimè con la fine del Dark in favore di una neo-psichedelia che non mi faceva per nulla impazzire. Adesso alcune loro cose le ascolto con piacere, ma allora ero piuttosto negativo su tutti questi nuovi gruppi che andavano a seppellire la scena nella quale mi ero così bene identificato. Tuttavia in omaggio al nuovo corso mi comprai una camicia psichedelica che mi piaceva molto a sfondo viola. Fu il primo passo per l'abbandono del nero integrale che seguì di lì a poco...

E' assolutamente gothic! Ed è fantastica...

Adoravo i Joy Division, leggevo i testi di Ian Curtis (edizione Gammalibri!) accanto a quelli di Baudelaire e Rimbaud... Avevo "Unknown Pleasures" in LP e "Closer" in musicassetta... Forse ho ascoltato e amato più il primo disco del secondo, ma ci sono almeno due pezzi di quest'ultimo che sono francamente pazzeschi...
