Make America Great Again Inc (Maga Inc). L'esponente - reietto - della leggendaria dinastia politica ha risposto così su X: "Il presidente Trump mi definisce un radicale di estrema sinistra. Sono così liberale che i suoi emissari mi hanno chiesto di essere il suo vicepresidente. Ho rispettosamente rifiutato l'offerta".

More Americans Say U.S. Is Not Helping Ukraine Enough
between 25% and 28% of all three party groups think the current level of help for Ukraine is about right, while 57% of Republicans, 39% of independents and 13% of Democrats think the U.S. is doing too much. Before October, no more than 50% of Republicans and 35% of independents said the U.S. was doing too much.
Majority Still Favors Supporting Ukraine in Reclaiming Territory
Fifty-five percent of Americans think the U.S. should continue to support Ukraine in reclaiming its territory, even if that requires prolonged involvement, rather than ending the conflict as quickly as possible, even if that means ceding territory to Russia (43%). These findings are unchanged from the previous readings in October. However, the percentage of Americans who now favor continuing the fight to win back Ukraine’s territory is lower than the 62% to 66% who preferred that approach between August 2022 and June 2023.
As has been the case since August 2022, a broad majority of Democrats (77%) prefer helping Ukraine reclaim the land it has lost to Russia. In contrast, 45% of Republicans and 47% of independents favor the same approach, while slim majorities of both party groups support a quick end to the war.
More Say Russia Winning, but Majority Still See Neither Side Prevailing
The majority of Americans, 65%, continue to think the war in Ukraine is at a stalemate, but they are more likely now (23%) than they were in October (14%) to say Russia is winning. The 12% of U.S. adults who believe Ukraine is winning the war is down from 20% in October.
Since the last survey, Russia has made some gains in Ukraine, while Ukraine has not been able to do much in its counteroffensive effort.
Partisans’ perceptions of the war are nearly identical, but this has not always been the case. In the two previous readings, Democrats were much more likely than Republicans and independents to say Ukraine was winning. Last June, 45% of Democrats said Ukraine was winning the war, but that figure fell to 32% in October and now stands at 15%. Meanwhile, 11% of Republicans and 10% of independents now say Ukraine is winning.
Republicans Hold Slight Edge on Handling the U.S. Response to the War
Americans are slightly more likely to say the Republicans in Congress are doing a better job of handling the U.S. response to the war in Ukraine than to say Joe Biden is (49% vs. 44%, respectively). Likewise, Donald Trump (50%) edges out Biden (46%) as potentially better at handling the U.S. response.
Broad majorities of Republicans and Democrats choose their own party’s congressional leaders and 2024 presidential contender as the better managers of the United States’ response to the Russia-Ukraine war, while slim majorities of independents favor Republican leaders.
Bottom Line
Two years after Russia invaded Ukraine, Americans are divided over whether the United States’ support for Ukraine is sufficient. Still, a majority continues to believe that helping reclaim Ukrainian territory is worth the effort, however long it may take. Partisans hold drastically different views on the subject, with Democrats much more supportive than Republicans of helping Ukraine. This has played out among congressional Republicans as U.S. aid for Ukraine has been delayed in the House. Johnson is attempting to forge a compromise, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a dire warning that help is needed now, but Johnson could lose his position as speaker if he does not satisfy differing segments of the Republican caucus.

Massie said he suggested Johnson "pre-announce" his resignation so Republicans can get to work on finding a new speaker and avoid any lapse in leadership.
ABC News Senior Congressional Correspondent Rachel Scott asked Johnson at the GOP's weekly news conference for his response to Republicans who say that if he doesn't step aside, they may oust him over this issue.
"I am not resigning," Johnson answered. "And it is, in my view, an absurd notion that someone would bring a vacate motion when we are simply here trying to do our jobs."
Johnson continued, "It is not helpful to the cause. It is not helpful to the country. It does not help the House Republicans to advance our agenda."

"I asked him to resign," Massie told ABC News as he left the GOP meeting earlier Tuesday. "He said he would not, and I said you're the one who is going to put us into this. The motion is going to get called, does anybody doubt that? The motion will get called, and he's going to lose more votes than Kevin McCarthy. And I have told him this in private, like weeks ago."
Johnson also made recent comments that prompted frustration from former President Donald Trump's advisers, and forced Johnson's team to issue a new statement, sources told ABC News.
After a show of unity at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, Johnson told Fox News on Sunday it was a great visit and that he and Trump were "100% united on these big agenda items."
But sources said Johnson did not fully lay out the details of this plan for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan to Trump when he met the former president at Mar-a-Lago. Therefore, the former president did not endorse the idea. A source familiar with Johnson's plans told ABC News conversations with members were ongoing through the weekend and there was no final plan yet Friday when the two met.
Sources said frustration from the Trump team prompted Johnson's team to put out another statement, in which Johnson senior adviser Raj Shah clarified Johnson didn't intend to suggest he and Trump are "fully aligned on ... every piece of any legislation."
Shah added, "He was grateful for the President’s gracious words of support on Friday, and will let the President and his team speak about his views on specific matters of national security."
Republicans have a razor-thin majority in the House, which means Johnson can afford only two defections.
However, some Democrats have privately signaled they'd bail out Johnson rather than freeze the House in another month of potential speaker elections.

As hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones rained down on Israel this weekend, some far-right lawmakers saw an opportunity to use the attack to accomplish a separate goal: further delay U.S. aid to Ukraine — hurting both Israel and Ukraine in the process.
Get the full experience.Choose your plan
On Monday evening, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) finally announced his plan to address the need for emergency supplemental funding for Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific. He is declining to simply call a vote on the Senate-passed $95 billion package, which would easily pass the House and reach President Biden’s desk immediately. Rather, he came up with a complicated and risky gambit to call votes on four separate aid bills and then try to join them together afterward on their way to the Senate.
Johnson is trying to strike a compromise. Splitting the bills into separate votes allows anti-Ukraine Republicans to vote against that funding and progressive Democrats to vote against the Israel funding — but both measures could still pass. That compromise, however, didn’t satisfy far-right members of Johnson’s caucus, who moved closer Tuesday to forcing a vote to remove him as speaker. He likely needs Democratic support to pass the legislation and to save his job.
GOP congressional sources tell me that before Iran’s attack on Israel, Johnson was leaning toward moving the entire aid package with one vote, which would be much simpler. But beginning on Saturday afternoon, Johnson and his staff started receiving calls and texts from far-right anti-Ukraine lawmakers urging him to pass the Israel aid alone and delay the Ukraine aid yet again.
“It had nothing to do with protecting Israel, these guys were just happy to have a new excuse to oppose Ukraine aid and they jumped on it,” a senior GOP congressional aide told me.
On Sunday, these MAGA lawmakers went public with their push to shelve Ukraine aid. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who opposes any aid to Ukraine, posted on X, “It’s antisemitic to make Israeli aid contingent on funding Ukrainian Nazis.” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) posted on X, “If we send billions to Ukraine because of this Iranian attack, the terrorists win.”

https://www.ilsole24ore.com/art/turc...tassi-AFH0mDJD
