Soviet Union FC was founded on 23 February 2002. The club was admitted to Division 3a of Carlsberg Leinster Football League for 2002-2003 season.
Soviet Union FC has the misfortune of never having won the League Championship. The only trophy club has is a Swift Cup. During the last four years the club was promouted to the Major Division of CLFL. Due to rotation of players club could not get a stable squad to win and finish as runner-up team for the first three seasons.
First season in Major Division was very difficult for the club. Finishing sixth was a good achievment.
