Ex primo ministro della Russia, EVGENY PRIMAKOV

Evgeny Primakov Named in International Scandal
    Mar. 01, 2006
Former U.S. undersecretary of defense Gen. John Shaw was the main speaker at the Intelligence Summit conference held in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington DC, last week. Current and former employees of 16 U.S. intelligence organizations gathered at that conference. Shaw told those assembled that the Americans were unable to find any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq because Russian intelligence agents had removed them shortly before the U.S. invasion began. Shaw based his conclusions on his own investigation in Baghdad after the fall of dictator Saddam Hussein and on information provided by the British MI6 intelligence service, a high-placed Ukrainian source close to the late OSCE representative in Ukraine David Nicholas, former British ambassador to Ukraine Julian Walker (also formerly ambassador to Qatar and Iraq) and former Ukrainian military attachй in Washington Igor Smeshko.

According to Shaw, “Operation Emergency Exit” had been ready since Soviet times. In December 2002, former Russian prime minister and then Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Evgeny Primakov flew to Baghdad with former deputy defense minister Vladislav Achalov and former air defense chief of staff Igor Maltsev. Primakov remained in Baghdad until the American invasion in March 2003 and the generals who accompanied him remained even after the invasion began. While they were there, several convoys of trucks were dispatched to Syria. According to Shaw, they carried weapons, and the ingredients and equipment for their manufacture. Two Russian ships departed from the Iraqi port of Umm-Qasr in March 2003 as well and dumped weapons of mass destruction into the Indian Ocean.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, speaks Sunday during the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's annual Policy Conference in Washington.

Bolton warns Iran of ‘painful consequences’
U.N. ambassador says U.S. has upped measures to stave off nuclear threat
    March 5, 2006
WASHINGTON - Iran faces “tangible and painful consequences” if it continues its nuclear activities and the United States will use “all tools at our disposal” to stop this threat, a senior U.S. official said Sunday, ahead of a crucial international meeting on Iran.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, speaking at a convention of Jewish-Americans, said it is too soon for the U.N. Security Council to impose sanctions on Iran but other countries are talking about doing so and Washington is “beefing up defensive measures to cope with the Iranian nuclear threat.”

Pro-Israel Lobbying Group Roiled by Prosecution of Two Ex-Officials
By SCOTT SHANE and DAVID JOHNSTON
    Published: March 5, 2006
WASHINGTON, March 4 — The annual gathering of the nation's top pro-Israel lobbying group, which starts here on Sunday, will be addressed by Vice President Dick Cheney and United Nations Ambassador John R. Bolton. Politicians are lined up to warn of the threat from Iran and Hamas. Workshops will offer advice on winning the legislative game on Capitol Hill. [...]

But the question of dual loyalty, to the United States and to Israel, became touchy after the investigation was revealed. At last year's conference, the group broke with tradition and did not sing the Israeli national anthem.
This year, officials have said, the tradition will be restored. Both the American and Israeli anthems are on the program.

Washington splits over best policy to halt Iran's nuclear plan
    By Tom Baldwin
    March 06, 2006

Visiting MPs were astonished by a lack of consensus on the eve of the crucial nuclear meeting

Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, who will today hold talks in Washington with Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, is advocating a cautious approach.
“Nobody has said that we have to rush immediately to sanctions of some kind,”

John Bolton, the US Ambassador to the UN, who is a hawk on the issue.
He told the MPs that he wanted a “Chapter 7 resolution” under which the UN would authorise military action, such as air strikes, against Iran.

    Party Hacks
    By Chris Floyd
    Published: March 3, 2006
Two weeks ago, an obscure, unelected, Republican-appointed official in California decided the future of the world. That future -- at least for the next several years -- will be an accelerating nightmare of war, corruption, repression, atrocity and terror. That's because the loyal apparatchik has, with the stroke of a pen, guaranteed the perpetuation of the Bush faction in power in 2008 and beyond.

One of the few certainties in modern U.S. politics is that no Democrat can win the presidency without carrying California. Thanks to the Electoral College system set up by the Founding Oligarchs to keep the low-born rabble from voting directly for president, the big haul of California's electoral votes is crucial for Democrats to offset the multitude of small, sparsely populated states that reliably vote Republican. Bagging California doesn't guarantee Democratic victory, but without it, the cliffhanger electoral counts in the goosed elections of 2000 and 2004 wouldn't even have been close.

Thus, the sudden, hugger-mugger decision by California Secretary of State Bruce McPherson to override the objections of his own experts and certify the eminently hackable voting machines of the politically partisan firm, Diebold, for use throughout the state means, quite simply, that the fix is in for 2008. It doesn't matter who the Democrats run -- Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, George Clooney or Jesus H. Christ in an Uncle Sam suit. It won't make a bit of difference. California is lost, the presidency is lost and the Bushists are in -- already. It's over.

Chirac is well ahead of Bush in the opinion of Arab publics
    Editorial, Daily Star

... This difference in approach - France's soft power and engagement as opposed to America's hard power and isolation - explains how Chirac, despite his history of blind support for regional despots, has managed to portray himself as a hero in the Arab world while Bush, who speaks incessantly of freedom and democracy, remains a villain in the eyes of Arab publics.

Predefinito Daniel Pipes E L'obbligo Morale

"Civil war in Iraq, in short, would be a humanitarian tragedy but not a strategic one."
    Xymphora
    6 marzo 2006

E saranno richieste ingenti.

    New world order
    DANIEL PIPES, ESPERTO DELL'ODIO

    Today’s Washington Post, Pg. A1:
    Today’s Washington Post, E.J. Dionne, Pg. A17:
It is now an ingrained journalistic habit: After a period of bad news for President Bush, media outlets invariably devote time and space to “balancing” stories that all say more or less: “Yes, the Republicans are in trouble, but the Democrats have no alternatives, no plans,” etc.
