Riguardo all'Irlanda e all'IRA ametto una quasi totale ignoranza. Comunque sto correndo come al solito ai ripari. Giusto oggi ho comprato "La storia segreta dell'IRA" di Ed Moloney, consigliato da un mio amico appassionato di storia irlandese. Già dalla prefazione si può capire la caratura del libro e che lavoro c'è dietro: mostruoso ed appassionante...

Se posso anticiparti qualcosa: l'IRA era l'esercito che lottó contro gli inglesi e che conquistó la libertá per l'EIRE; non avendo completato l'opera (l'Irlanda del nord rimase saldamente in mano britannica, grazie anche all'emigrazione massiccia apposita di protestanti dall'inghilterra) si trasformó in esercito segreto continuando la lotta per il recupero del nord in altri modi.
Correggimi se avró sbagliato!!!

Vabbè in linea di massima sapevo cosa fosse l'IRA, l'Eire e il periodo dopo l'indipendenza irlandese, il Sinn Fein, etc... Ma in linea di massima. Non conosco la situazione come ad esempio quella dell'Euskal Herria o della Catalunya o della Sardigna.

Arresti anche a Palermo. L'accusa? Aver raccolto fondi per il "Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam". La dimostrazione che la certezza del diritto no è di casa nello Stato Italiano: essere Tamil e mandare soldi a casa è diventato terrorismo.

SPAGNA: UE APRE PROCEDURA SU AIUTI ILLECITI PAESI BASCHI
Ingiunzione della Commissione Europea alla Spagna perche' recuperi gli sgravi fiscali illegalmente concessi alle imprese nei Paesi baschi. La decisione della Commissione Europea era stata confermata dalla Corte di Giustizia Europea nel 2006. Con il 'parere motivato' il cui invio e' stato deciso oggi, Bruxelles apre un'altra procedura che portera' di nuovo alla Corte di Lussemburgo, ma questa volta per chiedere l'imposizione di una multe finche' gli aiuti non saranno stati integralmente restituiti dai Paesi baschi allo Stato. "Il recupero degli aiuti di stato illegali e incompatibili e' essenziale per evitare ogni distorsione della concorrenza. La Commissione - e' il suo avvertimento - prendera' ogni misura necessaria per fare in modo che gli stati membri assolvano i loro obblighi in materia di recupero". Nessuna idea precisa sull'ammontare delle eventuali multe: "Solo lo stato spagnolo - ha infatti precisato il portavoce della Commissione Europea, Jonathan Todd responsabile della concorrenza - sa quanti aiuti sono stati dati alle imprese".

GEORGIA: ABKHAZIA CHIUDE LE FRONTIERE
Si inasprisce la tensione tra Sukhumi e Tbilisi. Le autorita' della regione separatista dell'Abkhasia hanno deciso di chiudere la frontiera con il resto della Georgia. Lo ha riferito l'agenzia Ria Novosti che cita il leader abkhaso, Serghei Bagapsh. Tra ieri e oggi nel territorio separatista vi sono state diverse esplosioni. "Da domani il confine tra Georgia e Abkhasia sara' chiuso", ha detto il leader separatista, il quale ha aggiunto che le sue forze di sicurezza si stanno dando la caccia ai responsabili degli attentati di queste ore, in cui sono rimaste ferite dieci persone.
