Sembra che il vento questo pomeriggio soffi in direzione di una coalizione Con-Lib...
2.45pm They were the future once
The Tory blogger Iain Dale says he's heard that Nick Clegg and Vince Cable are fully behind a deal with the Tories, but party elders Paddy Ashdown and Menzies Campbell are opposed.
"As someone once said, they were the future once," says Mr Dale, speaking to the BBC.
Meanwhile, Michael Gove says the Conservatives “have moved closer to the Lib Dems and they've moved closer to us on a wide range of issues”.
And Schools Minister Diana Johnson says she does not think a Labour-Lib Dem pact would form a stable government - the second minister to go public on this issue.
Looks like the wind is blowing in a Lib-Con direction this afternoon.
2.35 Burnham opposes deal
Paul Waugh of the Standard is reporting that Andy Burnham, health secretary, says: “I think we have got to respect the results of the general election and we can’t get away from the fact that Labour didn’t win."
That makes him the first Cabinet minister to publicly oppose their trying to form a government; the Labour rebellion is getting bolder.
